Moselle River 1944     80th Year of Liberation

Information about the Funding of the 2024 Commemoration
from the Moselle River 1944 Association

The Moselle River 1944 Association has created a GoFundMe page to ensure that sufficient funds are available to provide the American attendees the same great experience which has been presented at all four of the previous commemorations. While this GoFundMe page is requesting support from our friends and comrades in France, Pascal Moretti has requested that this GoFundMe page be listed here so that anyone who wishes to donate to the fund is able to do so. All voluntary donations to the fund will be used to support the many activities that are being planned for the six days of the commemoration.

The GoFundMe page may be accessed HERE.

Here is a translation of the French text on the GoFundMe page...

Hello, my name is Pascal MORETTI and I am the president of the Moselle River 1944 Association founded on January 22, 2003.

With the experience of organizing several internationally renowned commemorations of the Liberation of the THIONVILLE region (57), for the 60th anniversary in 2004, the 65th in 2010, the 70th in 2014 and the 75th anniversary in 2019, the association will welcome between November 8 and 13, 2024 inclusive, the last surviving American veterans of this noble generation, whose brothers-in-arms paid the price in blood for the freedom we have now enjoyed for 80 years. They will be accompanied by family members from the 5th, 90th, 95th American Infantry Divisions as well as those from the 10th Armored Division.

Apart from the costs of transatlantic travel and accommodation which remain the responsibility of the families, the association will cover the entire cost of meals, travel to the commemoration sites and the cost of organizing historical parades featuring approximately one hundred American military vehicles from the Second World War, as well as a photographic exhibition of the period.

The purpose of this fund is to help the association finance the welcome we owe to our liberators and their families.
